Information Sought After Rash Of Burglaries In Ripley

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in locating the person involved in a recent rash of burglaries in the town of Ripley.

In a news release Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office said the burglaries have taken place in the months of October and November. No specific incidents were detailed, however, the Sheriff’s Office said residents in the Ripley area should secure their homes, out buildings and vehicles.

“This will help protect you, your family and property from theft or harm,” the department said. “Also, if you observe suspicious activity, please contact the police immediately to report what you have observed.”

Into addition to the Sheriff’s Office, anyone with information is asked to contact WeTip at 1-800-782-7463. The organization offers rewards up to $1,000 when tips lead to an arrest and conviction. Rewards are paid anonymously through postmasters to protect the identity of the caller, the Sheriff’s Office said.

WeTip is a nonprofit group that accepts tips from anywhere in the country. “WeTip allows citizens from all over the nation to anonymously call crime information into one central headquarters, which is manned by live operators. WeTip will immediately link this information to local law enforcement agencies where the crime occurred.”
