Area Veterans Receive Military Service Medal

Six U.S. military veterans were honored for their service and valor during a special medal presentation ceremony at the Fenton History Center.

On Friday, six medal recipients attended the presentation ceremony. Greg Carlson, Chautauqua County Veteran Services director, presented each of the recipients their medal during the ceremony. Each recipient received up to three medals: Conspicuous Service Cross, Conspicuous Service Star and Medal for Merit.

Charles Gustafson received the Conspicuous Service Cross, Conspicuous Service Star and Medal for Merit. Richard Thom; Adrian Cooper; Terrance Horner; and Steven Johnson; received the Conspicuous Service Star and Medal for Merit. Stephen Hayes received the Conspicuous Service Star.

Five medal recipients who weren’t in attendance included Roger Bingham; Roger Kridler; Patrick Lambert; Rosario Riotto; and Dennis Robbins; all of whom earned the Medal for Merit.

Prior to the medal ceremony, Tom Jones, Vets Finding Vets board member, thanked the veterans in attendance for their service. He said each of their sacrifice is well noted.

“Thank you for your honorable service” he said.
