Woman Who Stole Car Facing Charges

A Jamestown woman who stole a car containing a credit card and checkbook she then used to buy items throughout the county is facing multiple charges.

Jennifer L. Blake, 30, was taken into custody following an investigation by the Lakewood-Busti Police Department. Officers were first made aware of the incident July 15 after receiving a complaint of a stolen car.

Police learned Blake went “house to house” asking for help. One homeowner offered assistance, instead Blake reportedly stole his cellphone, police said Wednesday in a press release.

After leaving the home, Blake allegedly stole a neighbor’s car with the victim’s belongings inside.

“(Blake) then used the victim’s credit card and checkbook throughout Chautauqua County,” police said.

The car was later recovered.

Blake is facing charges of two counts of petit larceny, third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree grand larceny.

The city woman has faced similar charges in the past. In June 2018, Blake was jailed after Jamestown police said she entered an East Sixth Street residence and stole “numerous items of clothing.”
