WARREN, Pa. — Work on Warren County’s busiest roadway has now begun in earnest.

The multi-million dollar project will rehabilitate Market St/Rt. 62 from Pennsylvania Ave. into Pine Grove Township.

“The project will improve 5.54 miles of Route 62 from the intersection of Market Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in the City of Warren to the intersection with South Main Street (Route 1015) in Pine Grove Township,” PennDOT previously said.

Route 62 northbound from the city was restricted to one lane on Thursday morning from between Sixth Ave. and Seventh Ave. in the City of Warren to the intersection with Follett Run Road/South State Street in Conewango Township while the guardrail was removed.

The bridge over Rhine Run near Conewango Valley Country Club will receive a concrete overlay as part of the project, as well.

PennDOT Press Officer Jill Harry said that a temporary traffic signal will go into effect next Tuesday “in connection with the repairs they are making to that bridge.”

Harry said that people may also notice over the next week that crews are “going to start doing some of the drainage work. That will be all along the project limits.”

No detours are anticipated, but motorists will encounter traffic lane restrictions controlled by flaggers. The project will “also include roadway milling and paving, along with upgrades to traffic signals, ADA curb ramps, and pavement markings.”

Harry said the paving would start at the bridge and will then continue south “over the next several weeks.”

Also over the next several weeks upgrades and updates to a total of eight traffic signals between Second Ave. in the city and Hatch Run in Conewango Township will be completed.

IA Construction Corporation of Franklin was awarded the contract for the job. Total cost is $5,929,777.77 and will be paid for utilizing federal dollars.

“Paving and bridge work is expected to be completed by October 18, 2019,” PennDOT said.
