Gazebo Concert To Feature Bluegrass

CHERRY CREEK — The music of Old Dawg Bluegrass will fill the air of the Memorial Park in Cherry Creek as the 2019 Summer Gazebo Concert Series continues Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.

The Memorial Park is located on Main Street, behind the Town Hall.

Old Dawg Bluegrass is known for playing traditional bluegrass music, first made popular in the Bluegrass Mountain areas of Virginia and the South. Using mainly acoustic instruments such as guitars, banjos, fiddles, washboards and jugs, bluegrass music is what the everyday people played as they gathered on front porches on warm summer evenings. The instruments used were handed down from family members of previous generations, or made from items found in the home. It has a unique sound and style.

“Old Dawg Bluegrass have been regularly featured on our concert schedule for quite a few seasons now,” said Brenda Hendricks of the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc. “Our audience enjoys their music, as is shown by the crowd that attends our concerts when they play. Please come and enjoy them with us.”

Refreshments will be available, and those planning to attend are reminded to bring their own lawn chairs for seating. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the pavilion in the Ballpark, further down Main Street.

This project is sponsored by the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc. and made possible in part with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state Legislature and administered by the Tri- County Arts Council. This program is also supported by area businesses, the Town of Cherry Creek and community members.
