“Blue Mind,” an exhibit was created by artist Karen Glosser, will be the subject of a free, public reception at 7 p.m. today at the 3rd on 3rd Gallery, 108 E. Third St., Jamestown.

“Blue Mind” was curated by Glosser and Debra Eck. Blue Mind is “a mildly meditative state characterized by calm, peace, unity, and a sense of general happiness and satisfaction with life in the moment”. It is brought on by time spent near, in, on, and under water.

Blue Mind features the work of Amanda Van Der Zant, Amy Albright, Andrea Shearing, Ashley Ordines, Audrey Kay Dowling, Barbara Jean, Ben Fenton, Carolyn Grady, Catherine Reed, Don Hill, Emma Coop, Holly Drewett, James Vincent, Kara Shaw, Kathleen Tenpas, Kathrine Geoghegan, Kathy Lim, Katie Francis, Katrina Tracuma, Lena Bartolomeu, Lisa Schimdtfrerick, Lizzie Hughes, Louse Beer, Marianne van Loo, Marie Stewart, Mary Wong, Neringa Dastoor, Phill Hopkins, Samuel Lee, Sara Baker-Michalak, Shawn Tibbitts, Sheila Cannon, Sherry Preziuso, Sonia Bublaitis, Stephanie Zwyghuizen, Terry Lair, Timothy Phillips, Wendy Bale, Wong Mary and Yi-Chiao Chen.

The Blue Mind groundswell was founded by marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols, who has spent much of his life with and is well known for, his work in sea turtle conservation. He wrote the book, ” Blue Mind – The Surprising Science That Shows How Being Near, In, On, or Under Water Can Make You Happier, Healthier, More Connected, and Better At What You Do.”
