Jury Member Selection To Begin In City Rape Case

Dennis L. Park

MAYVILLE — Jury selection is scheduled to begin Tuesday against a Conewango man accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a Jamestown laundromat last summer.

Dennis L. Park, 34, was indicted by a Chautauqua County grand jury on charges of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree criminal sex act.

Park was jailed after the July 17, 2018, incident in which a woman said he assaulted her at knife-point while inside the laundromat at 111 Marion St.

The victim later identified Park as the man who assaulted her. At the time, Jamestown police said it appeared the victim was picked at random.

The former city resident was previously convicted on a charge of first-degree rape of a 5-year-old girl in an incident that took place Sept. 26, 2002. Park was reportedly 17 years old at the time; he pleaded guilty in January 2003 and was sentenced to seven years in jail.

Park is currently being represented by Chautauqua County Public Defender Ned Barone.
