On Saturday, St. James Church, located at 27 Allen St., Jamestown, will host “Soup and a Song” featuring Bill Ward and Friends and a great meal.

For the admission price of $10, guests will be treated to an evening of live musical entertainment, the choice of two soups from nine different varieties, as well as bread, dessert and beverages.

In attendance will be Bonny Scott-Sleight, executive director of St. Susan Center; board members; and friends of St. Susan’s as the group celebrates its 35th year anniversary with a night of music and a brief look over the past 35 years with Paul Leone, as he tells the center’s story.

The doors will open at 6 p.m., with the entertainment to begin shortly after and will continue until 9 p.m. Tickets are available at the door, in advance at St. Susan Center and take-out orders will be available.

Attendees can enjoy some soup for a small donation and donate $5 or $10 for “suspended soup” for someone else to enjoy down the road.

“Your gift today will make a huge impact on someone else’s life,” Scott-Sleight said. “Let’s work together to make this world a kinder, gentler place to live. We’re doing it — one bowl of soup at a time.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Susan Center, Jamestown’s soup kitchen, which has served the community since 1984.
