Clymer Central School Mixed Chorus To Open? For Rockettes On Saturday

The Clymer Central School mixed chorus, made up of seventh- through 12th-graders, will be the opening act Saturday before the Radio City Rockettes perform.

CLYMER — The Clymer Central School seventh- through 12th grade mixed chorus has been selected to be the opening act for the Radio City Rockettes on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.

Forty-four singers will represent the district with a Pentatonix arrangement of “Hark, The Herald Angels Sing.” After the performance, the singers will sit in the audience and watch the Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes.

Three chartered buses will leave from Clymer Central School and the Cobblestone Inn in Corry, Pa., and travel through the night to arrive Saturday morning in New York City. Vocalists and spectators will tour the Bryant Park Christmas village, the Top of the Rock observation deck on the NBC building, take a backstage tour of Radio City, Macy’s, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Times Square and after the show a drive by of Ground Zero.

The selection process began in January 2017 when the application was filed and the audition DVD showcased highlights from the Pops and Spring concerts. Alexis Bonetti, English teacher, submitted the application for the school.

“They liked what they heard and liked what they saw,” said Jim Wojcicehowski.

Dozens of local businesses, alumni and community members have donated money for the chorus to take the trip.
