ARKWRIGHT — The newly constructed wind towers are expected to be turning soon.

Fred Norton, Arkwright town supervisor, commented to the Observer this week that the long awaited powering up of the wind turbines throughout Arkwright should be taking place on Monday.

Some residents in Arkwright have posted on Facebook, saying they have seen a few of the turbines turning.

Monday’s date of course, is subject to change without notice, as several factors play into the wind farm coming online. The most notable of these issues is the grid shut down that must happen in order to connect them to power. EDP Renewables was running tests this past weekend, so now it’s just a matter of time until the 36 new turbines begin producing power.

The next meeting of the Arkwright Town Board will be taking place on Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
