Harmful Algae Blooms Hit In Chautauqua, Findley Lakes

MAYVILLE — Monitoring and sampling efforts for harmful algal blooms are ongoing at affected lakes in Chautauqua County.

Widespread harmful algal blooms have been confirmed in the South Basin of Chautauqua Lake and small isolated blooms have been confirmed in the lake’s North Basin; however, no public beaches are closed due to HABs.

On Findley Lake, there have been widespread harmful algal blooms confirmed throughout the lake.

Harmful algal bloom conditions can change rapidly. Use caution when entering the water where an active bloom is present. Do not ingest the water. Closely watch children and pets. If exposed to algae, wash off immediately.
