Suspected Burglar Nabbed In Fredonia

A suspected burglar was taken into custody Friday after allegedly breaking into a Pomfret home earlier this week.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, James C. Hanson, 32, was apprehended by Fredonia police shortly before 8 a.m. Friday on an arrest warrant for second-degree burglary.

The charge stems from an incident on Wednesday, in which Hanson reportedly broke into a home on Chautauqua Road in Pomfret and was later observed running into a wooded area.

The Sheriff’s Office, Fredonia Police Department and the New York State Police had searched the area for Hanson with negative results.

Hanson, who’s address was not released, was charged with second-degree burglary and arraigned in Pomfret Court. He was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 property bond.
