LAKEWOOD — A new Lakewood establishment is now welcoming live music to its recently constructed outdoor area.

Craft Burgers & Brews — located at 60 Chautauqua Ave. in Lakewood — will kick off its new live music series with a performance by The Probables on Saturday from 7-10 p.m.

The dining establishment, which prides itself on the quality of its hand-crafted burgers and wide selection of beer on tap, recently completed construction of its outdoor deck, where local acoustic acts will give their performances. The deck is open-air but covered, ensuring that outdoor dining and music may continue in spite of the weather; and increased the establishment’s seating capacity by nearly 50 percent.

Ryan Thayer, owner of Craft Burgers & Brews, said his business is glad to support artists from the area by allowing them to showcase their talents in a family friendly, relaxing atmosphere.

“Business has been good here, and we’re really excited to hold our first live music event on the deck this Saturday,” Thayer said. “It’s a nice atmosphere out on the deck, and we believe this is something that will be enjoyable for people of all ages. We also wanted to make an effort to support our local musicians, being a locally owned business ourselves, and so we’ll do anything we can to help with that.”

The Probables, which was co-founded earlier last year by former Big Leg Emma member Steve Johnson and longtime friend Tom Hodges, has already made a splash in the local and regional music circuit — having recorded and released a five-song EP; booked a number of shows in several locations throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio; and most recently performed at the 26th annual Great Blue Heron Music Festival earlier this month.

For more information about the Probables, find the group on Facebook or visit their website at theprobables.com.

Thayer said Craft Burgers & Brews will also feature live music by local guitarist Kev Rowe, another former member of Big Leg Emma, every Friday from 6-8 p.m. Also scheduled to appear are Not Sold Separately, featuring Dave and Duane Keogh of The Town Pants, on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 7-10 p.m.

Any musicians interested in performing at Craft Burgers & Brews can inquire about availability by contacting Ryan Thayer at 763-0051 or ryan@craftlakewood .com. Thayer said he is looking for light, acoustic music as the deck is an outdoor space near private residences.
