Space Heater Blamed In Pomfret Fire
POMFRET — A fire at 8317 Kelly Hill Road is being blamed on a propane space heater. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Fire Investigation Team said the fire originated on the floor of the residence due to a propane space heater being placed in close proximity to debris and a propane tank. No injuries were reported.
The fire began before 10 p.m. Friday when temperatures were in the single digits. When Fredonia firefighters arrived, there were two RV campers and a mobile home on fire. Tankers were called from Stockton, Cassadaga and Brocton Fire Companies. Fredonia Engine 12, Engine 14, Engine 15, Tanker 11 and Car 14 responded as well as County Emergency Services.
Crews began leaving the scene around 11:20 p.m.
