A 19-year-old who police say loaded a shotgun during a domestic incident Monday while holding a 5-month-old is facing a host of charges.

No injuries were reported after officers were summoned around 8 p.m. to the south side of the city.

In a news release, Jamestown police said the teen — who was not identified by name — got into an altercation with a woman at a residence. During the altercation, the 19-year-old reportedly “slammed the victim to the floor and placed his hand over her mouth and his arm across her throat, causing the victim to have difficulty breathing,” JPD said.

The teen also allegedly took the victim’s phone, preventing her from calling for help.

“The male then proceeded into a back bedroom and began to load a shotgun threatening anyone who entered,” the department said in a news release. “The male allegedly did this while holding a five month old baby.”

The teen was taken into custody on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.
