Region’s COVID Positivity Rate Remains A Concern

Seven-day positivity rates for Western New York remain alarming. Though the percentage dipped under 5, it remains the region with the highest level at 4.97% and it is higher than the state average of 2.92%.

Chautauqua County does not update its statistics on the weekends. However, the county has noted the Centers for Disease Control has noted the levels for community transmission are rated as “high” here and across the state.

Vaccinations in the county continue to lag behind the state average of 41.4%. About 49,320 have had the first dose — about 38.5% in the county with 34,625 having the complete series.
