City Man Jailed After Firing Gun In Apartment

No one was injured, and a Jamestown man is in jail, after a shot was fired through the floor of an East Fifth Street apartment Wednesday.

Officers and members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force responded at about 10:30 a.m. for a reported gunshot complaint. It was reported that 37-year-old Anthony M. Camarata, who was on parole, allegedly discharged a firearm inside his 509 E. Fifth St. apartment.

“The bullet traveled through the floor and into the apartment below his. No injuries were sustained by anyone during this incident. When officers arrived on scene, they were able to call Camarata out of his apartment without incident.

“A search warrant was obtained from Jamestown City Court by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force for the residence. As the investigation into locating the gun continued, Detectives watch video surveillance from nearby locations which assisted in the recovery of the shotgun used.

“The gun used during this incident was recovered from the porch of a nearby home.”

Camarata was jailed on charges that include first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal mischief.
