A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Buffalo for all of Chautauqua County.

The advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The weather service said 3 to 6 inches of lake effect snow could fall in some areas in addition to wind gusts as high as 40 mph near the Lake Erie shoreline.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” the weather service said. “The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute tonight and the morning commute on Wednesday. … Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.”
