Panama Delays Full-Time, In-Person Return For Some Students

A plan to bring back some students in-person full-time at Panama Central School has been delayed.

Superintendent Bert Lictus, in a message to parents Thursday evening, said students in seventh, ninth and 12th grades will continue to follow their current hybrid schedule until Feb. 2. A plan to bring the students back in-person full-time was put on hold after “reviewing local positivity rates, new state guidance, and other factors.”

He added, “It is my hope that after the holidays we will have more data to make an informed decision regarding the return of secondary students. I am asking all residents to be vigilant and safe as we enter the holiday season. These efforts now will be important as we review the scheduling of our secondary students for the second semester.”
