Fire That Destroyed Structure Ruled Accidental

A fire that broke out late Monday morning and destroyed a structure in the town of Carroll was ruled accidental.

Firefighters from Frewsburg were summoned shortly before noon to 646 Page Road for a fire reported in a barn or large garage. Officials arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the property.

According to Capt. Rich Telford of the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team, the fire was caused by “combustibles being too close to a space heater inside the barn.”

The property was considered a total loss, Telford said.

Several area volunteer fire departments assisted on Page Road.
