Police Seek Driver Following Hit-And-Run

The Jamestown Police Department is seeking public assistance in locating the car and driver involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured a pedestrian Tuesday morning.

In a news release, the department said a 61-year-old man was struck by a dark-colored sedan as he walked in the intersection at East Sixth and Pine streets around 5:22 a.m. The man was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment of “serious injuries to his lower legs.”

The vehicle involved, believed to be a Chevrolet Impala, is suspected to have front-end damage. Following the collision, the vehicle proceeded south on Pine Street before turning east onto East Fifth Street, south onto Winsor Street and then onto English Street.

Investigators were examining traffic cameras and surveillance video from the area.
