Cattaraugus County Landlord Facing Attempted Murder, Assault Charges

A Cattaraugus County landlord was remanded to jail on attempted murder and assault charges after getting into a fight with a tenant, the New York State Police said in a news release.

Daniel L. Langdon Jr., 51 of Little Valley was jailed following the altercation Friday on Route 98 in the Cattaraugus County town of Farmersville. Troopers were notified that a man had been shot multiple times.

An investigation found that Langdon got into a physical altercation with the 40-year-old male tenant.

“During the altercation, Langdon pulled a legally owned 9-mm pistol and shot the victim multiple times,” the state police said in its news release.

The victim was taken by helicopter to Erie County Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Langdon was arraigned on charges of felony attempted murder and first-degree assault and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.

The investigation was handled by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Machias police barracks.
