(9:18 AM) JPS Mourns Loss Of Washington ELA Teacher

Jamestown Public Schools is mourning the loss of one of its own.

The district, in a message posted Tuesday, announced that Jason Williams — an English Language Arts teacher at Washington Middle School — died unexpectedly Sunday. He was 40 years old.

“We are all profoundly saddened by the loss of a beloved teacher, friend and Jamestown Public School family member,” the district said. “We extend our deepest sympathies to Mr. Williams’ family and friends during this very difficult time.

“Mr. Williams was a valued staff member for over 14 years at Washington Middle School. He was very involved in many extracurricular activities and school committees while at Washington School.

“Mr. Williams touched the lives, in positive and influential ways, of many of our current students, staff and alumni. He will be greatly missed.”
