A vehicle pursuit that began in Jamestown and ended in the town of Poland resulted in a host of charges against two people Saturday.

Cody A. Dickerson, 24, of Jamestown, and Steven R. Blankenship, 43, of Ludlow, Pa., were jailed after the pursuit, which began around 5 p.m. when officers were alerted to two suspicious men in a maroon pickup trick in the area of Palmer Street and Highland Avenue.

According to Jamestown police, the vehicle — driven by Dickerson — took off at a high rate of speed making “several moving violations as JPD was attempting to stop the vehicle.”

The truck reportedly struck two separate vehicles during the pursuit, which ended on Falconer-Frewsburg Road after the vehicle “stopped functioning due to the heavy damage it sustained … and being involved in two vehicle crashes,” JPD said in a press release.

Dickerson and Blankenship reportedly fled into the woods, with a Taser used on Blankenship twice for resisting arrest.

Both men are currently in Chautauqua County Jail without bail.

Dickerson was charged with 26 vehicle and traffic violations, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing police in a motor vehicle and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Blankenship was charged with two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Jamestown police were assisted Saturday by officers in Ellicott, Lakewood-Busti, the Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.
