(9:20 AM) Napoli Man Taken To UPMC Hamot After Assault

NAPOLI — A Gowanda resident and a Buffalo resident face second-degree assault charges after an assault that left a Napoli resident in serious condition at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies report responding to 4621 Allegany Road, Napoli, at 3:30 a.m. Saturday after Matthew W. Beaver, 30, of Gowanda, and Dashawn A. Hamilton, 27, of Buffalo allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old man with a dangerous instrument following a verbal altercation. Corie Royce allegedly accompanied Beaver and Hamilton; she was charged with tampering with evidence. Beaver and Hamilton were arraigned and taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Royce was arraigned and taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

The 22-year-old man was taken to UPMC Hamot Hospital and is listed in serious condition.
