(3:05 PM) West Ellicott Man Charged After Allegedly Trying To Fake Limousine’s VIN Number

A West Ellicott man faces four felony charges after a two-month investigation by the Jamestown Police Department Investigative Unit.

Jon C. Golden, 56, was charged at 1 p.m. Friday with two counts of forgery of a vehicle identification number and two counts of illegal possession of a VIN number. Police report Golden purchased and then tried to register a 2011 Lincoln limousine in New York state but was told by the state Motor Vehicles Department that a lien existed on the vehicle and that he couldn’t register the vehicle without satisfying the lien. Golden then allegedly purchased a similar vehicle from a salvage yard in Pennsylvania, removed its VIN plate and attached it to the vehicle with the lien in New York state to make it appear to be a different vehicle without a lien.

Golden turned himself in after a warrant was obtained through Jamestown City Court.
