UPDATE: ‘A Win For Law Enforcement’: 3 Charged In Meth Bust

Mark Maio, Brandon Smith and Brittany Dellahoy.

RANDOLPH — More than a pound and a half of crystal methamphetamine was seized during a search of a Randolph home, a bust police say prevented drugs from being sold on the streets.

Three area residents are facing felony charges after a joint investigation by the Olean Office of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force. A search warrant was executed Wednesday evening at 128 Main St. in Randolph, where authorities found packaged bags of crystal methamphetamine reportedly ready for sale.

Marijuana and drug paraphernalia was also found in the search, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office said.

Taken into custody were 34-year-old Mark Maio of Randolph, 28-year-old Brittany Dellahoy of Randolph and 32-year-old Brandon Smith of Jamestown.

All told, the drugs seized Wednesday have a street value of about $75,000, Capt. Shawn Gregory of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office said.

“It seems that meth has sort have taken over in our area,” Gregory told The Post-Journal. “It’s the new chronic drug, where heroin was in the past, this is the new hot ticket item to have.

“To have a bust of this significance is huge for our agency and the Jamestown (Metro Drug Task Force). This is a win for law enforcement.”

Gregory said the trio could be facing federal charges due to the amount of drugs discovered.

Maio and Dellahoy were each charged with one count of felony first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Smith was charged with one count of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

Maio, Dellahoy and Smith were taken to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing and arraigned in Conewango Town Court.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said the drug seizure was the result of a “significant joint effort investigation.” He noted that the drugs likely would have ended up in the Jamestown area and sold within days.

“These are major players known well to us here in Jamestown,” Samuelson said. “This is a significant bust that will affect the direct supply to the Jamestown area.”

All three have been charged recently. In October, Smith was found with an ounce of crystal methamphetamine and more than $4,000 in cash during a traffic stop in Jamestown.

Maio was charged following a traffic stop Dec. 5 on Route 62 in Kennedy. Troopers found 8 grams of marijuana during the stop, and Maio’s non-driver ID was found to be suspended six times.

Meanwhile, Dellahoy was charged after a traffic stop Jan. 5 in Randolph in which she was allegedly found in possession of a vape pen containing THC oil.

The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, Salamanca Police Department, Gowanda Police Department, Franklinville Police Department and the New York State Police. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force was assisted by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and K-9 Nichols.
