Voters Guide To Primary Day

Voters throughout the state will be heading to the polls from noon-9 p.m. on Primary Day

Here’s a guide for Chautauqua County voters as they head to the polls.

DEMOCRATS

Democrats will see races for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.

Incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo is facing a primary election challenge by Cynthia Nixon, an actress and activist. Kathy Hochul is seeking another term as lieutenant governor in a primary challenge from Jumaane Williams, a three-term New York City councilman. Meanwhile, Sean Patrick Maloney, Letitia A. James, Leecia Eve and Zephyr Teachout are seeking the Democratic nomination for state attorney general.

REPUBLICANS

Republican voters in District 3 in the town of Busti will decide who will represent them in the Busti County Committee. Randall Holcomb, Susan Drago and Douglas Schutte are vying for two seats up for grabs in the district.

REFORM

Nancy Sliwa, Mike Diederich and Christopher Garvey are vying for the Reform nomination for attorney general when voters head to the polls.

CONSERVATIVES

Conservatives will be choosing its candidate for Chautauqua County Sheriff. Current Sheriff Joe Gerace is facing a challenge from James Quattrone, a former lieutenant with the Sheriff’s Office. Lawrence Freligh and John Hamels are also seeking the Conservative line for Ripley town justice.

INDEPENDENCE

Portland voters with the Independence Party will chose between Daniel Thompson, Michelle Patterson and Thomas DeJoe for Portland town justice. Elsewhere, John Hamels and Lawrence Freligh are seeking the Independence line for Ripley town justice.
