The Kmart on Fairmount Avenue in West Ellicott and Sears inside the Chautauqua Mall in Lakewood are not among the 46 new stores scheduled to close later this year, Sears Holdings said Thursday.

The department store chain in a statement announcing the closings said it will “continue to evaluate our network of stores (and) make further adjustments as needed.”

Specifically, the company said 13 Kmart stores and 33 Sears stores deemed “non-profitable” will close as early as November. The news comes after Sears Holdings announced in May that 15 Kmart and 48 Sears stores were scheduled to be shuttered due to low sales. A small group of stores were initially pulled from the May list for further evaluation.
