FALCONER – Members of the Thule Lodge gathered recently for a harvest dinner.
The Thule Lodge is the Swedish organization formed 118 years ago in the Jamestown area, to aid the Swedish immigrants when they settled in the United States with housing, employment and schooling. Many of the Swedish people found employment in the many furniture factories which once existed in the Jamestown area. Today, the lodge exists to remember the Swedish customs through events and activities.
Recently Thule Lodge held its Harvest dinner of a full turkey and fixings dinner. The meal was catered for the lodge members and guests by the 3C’s Catering, and held at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer. The meal was organized and planned by event chairman Lynne Meyers. Fall decorations and music was provided by lodge chairman Susan Fredrickson Washington Sipos, who also welcomed all to the fall event.
At the November noon meeting a luncheon is planned for all those attending the meeting, and the annual Swedish Christmas “Dopp I Gryta” celebration will be in December. At each meeting Swedish culture is always discussed. At the recent meeting, the Swedish Advent calendar was mentioned with each day being a special one of the season. Lodge secretary John Sipos gave the opening and closing invocations, along with the Pledge of Allegiance. Treasurer Loretta Smith gave the treasurer’s report of the lodge. The slate of officers for 2026 will be presented at the November meeting. Thule Lodge welcomes news members.
