Boys And Girls Club Ready For Day Camp

Campers from the WCD Boys & Girls Club Camp Hiak Tilikum work on their tie dye T-shirts.

The Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown is accepting camper registrations for its Camp Hiak Tilikum summer day camp program to run in eight weekly sessions from June 26 through Aug. 18.

The full-day program runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and includes breakfast and lunch. Camp Hiak Tilikum is open to all area boys and girls age 5 through 12, with a variety of outdoor activities geared toward both the young, first-time camper as well as the more experienced day camper. Transportation is provided to camp and back from the Club’s main 62 Allen St. facility.

Camp Hiak Tilikum is primarily a wooded setting with a variety of options for nature study and exploration, hiking and outdoor games. A secure building with restrooms and a picnic pavilion are also available for arts and crafts, lunches and rainy day activities. Swimming is held each afternoon at the Boys & Girls Club’s Allen Street facility pool. Campers may be picked up by their parents any time after returning to the Allen Street facility, but no later than 5-5:30 p.m. Openings exist in all eight weeks. The camp, as well as the 62 Allen St., facility, will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.

Christina Kebort is returning as the Camp Hiak Tilikim summer day camp director.

The camp fee is $100 per week per camper, with a limited number of partial scholarships available on the basis of financial need and availability of funds. Each camper must also have a current $25 Club membership. There is also a one-time $10 registration fee which includes a camp T-shirt. Registration forms and financial scholarship applications are available at the Boys & Girls Club office at 62 Allen St. Registration forms are also available on the Boys and Girls Club website at www.bgcjamestown.org. Completed forms with verification of immunization records are required to reserve a space in the program. Registrations are accepted in advance, with payment due no later than the Friday prior to the week of attendance. Advance payment will guarantee registration for the selected weeks. Children receiving FA or SNA-FP may qualify for up to four weeks of camp at no cost. The camp may also qualify through childcare assistance if needed.

Camp Hiak Tilikum and all Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown youth programs are community partners with the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County. For more information on any Club program, call 664-2902.
