LAKEWOOD — Ashlan Davis, owner of A New Leaf Photography, will host a grand opening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the studio’s 28 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood, location.

The opening will include treats and beverages such as cookies, cupcakes, coffee, water, and sparkling grape juice. Anyone who wishes to book photo sessions for the fall or Christmas will be able to do so.

“Opening this studio means finally latching onto this dream I feel like I’ve been chasing since I was a child,” she says. “My family always tells me, ‘go after what you want and keep one thing in mind — always remember your roots.’ These are my roots. I am deeply rooted, camera in hand. Rooted to this passion, and now, my dream that’s finally come true. I am overjoyed to be opening my doors to part of the community I grew up in. My hope is that the community will want to experience this passion with me by giving me the opportunity to photograph the most important pieces of their hearts.”

Daivs will be booking sessions for family, engagement, senior, maternity, events, in-studio portraits, weddings, etc. The studio could offer workshops and small summer camps for adults and children to enjoy learning about the wonders of both film and digital photography.

“Film photography and the use of a darkroom has become a dying art, and I refuse to let it disappear,” Davis said.

Davis is a Jamestown Community College graduate with an associate’s degree in media arts. She has won multiple awards for her black and white photography as well as media arts.
