Thule Lodge Plans Corn Roast At Falcon’s Nest

FALCONER — Members of the Thule Lodge gathered for a business meeting recently at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer, and made plans for a upcoming corn roast dinner in August at the Falcon’s Nest.

The dinner is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the restaurant. Members will be receiving a reservation card in the mail with the telephone number to call for reservations.

At the recent meeting, lodge chairman Susan Fredrickson Washington Sipos conducted the meeting and welcomed all. The invocation was given by the temporary chaplain. Stephanie Buccola is the vice chairman and reported that all guards were at their respective locations. Secretary John Sipos gave the roll call of officers, and read the minutes of the previous meeting.

Treasurer Loretta Smith gave the financial report of the lodge. Cultural leader Mary Ann Eva Ingrao talked about Swedish china, and showed a tea cup and saucer and a tea pot which were over 100 years old. The interesting note is that the tea cup and saucer are numbered.

Chairman Sipos reported on the members who are ill and recovering. Katie Peterson volunteered to send cards to those ill and not able to attend.

There were photographs available for all to see of the “Midsommar” event held in June, and the recent Scandinavian Folk Festival held in Jamestown in the middle of July. A special thanks was extended to the members of the Thule Dance team for all of the dancing entertainment that they provide at events, and for always wearing their Swedish outfits. Stephanie Buccola was the recipient of the monthly meeting award. After the closing invocation, a variety of cookies was provided by Mrs. Smith, and coffee was served to all.
