Rabbit Show Winners Are Named

The Chautauqua County 4-H Rabbit Project held their Rabbit Show on Monday, July 18, with 24 youth presenting 35 rabbits. This year’s judge was Brock Meanor from Sewickley, Pa. The show began with each 4-H-er participating in the showmanship competition. First year Junior winners were Madalyn Reading in first and Lydia Cross in second. Junior showmanship winners were Jasper Eschenbach in first place and Everett LeBarron in second place.

The Senior Showmanship contest was won by Maggie King and Luisa Smith taking second place. This year’s Grand Champion Showman was Maggie King and Reserve Champion Showman was Luisa Smith.

Britannia Petite Best of Breed – Matthew Brown

English Lop Best of Breed – Lexus Eschenbach

English Lop Best Opposite – Lexus Eschenbach

Holland Lop Best of Breed – Gavin LeBarron

Holland Lop Best Opposite – Katie King

Mini Lop Best of Breed – Everett LeBarron

Mini Lop Best Opposite – Jonathan Coblentz

Mini Rex Best of Breed – Emelia Catanese

Mini Rex Best Opposite – Kiley Jones

Mini Satin Best of Breed – Maggie King

Mini Satin Best Opposite – Maggie King

Netherland Dwarf Best of Breed – Jasper Eschenbach

Netherland Dwarf Best Opposite – Lexus Eschenbach

Polish Best of Breed – Matthew Brown

Polish Best of Breed – Maggie King

Tan Best of Breed – Christopher King

The top winners were Everett LaBarron with his Mini Lop for Best in Show, and Lexus Eschenbach with her English Lop for Reserve Best in Show.

Other participating members of the rabbit project were Bentley Frank, Madison Griswold, Ida Jones, Lu Jones, Harrison LeBarron, Eddie Light, Onna Warner, Paige Winton, and Wyatt Winton.

The week ended with the Jr Herdsman Award going to Madalyn Reading and Sr Herdsman Award going to Matthew Brown. The Jr Superintendent Award was presented to Lexus Eschenbach and the Helping Hands Award went to Matthew Brown. Congratulations to Corinne Covert, Maggie King, and Christopher King on their future endeavors because they have aged out of 4-H and will be taking their next “steps into the future”.
