Bach’s Lunch Concert Series Returns To First Presbyterian Church Wednesday
After a pandemic-induced hiatus, “Bach’s Lunch” music recitals will be returning to the First Presbyterian Church of Jamestown at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.
To be clear, “Bach’s Lunch” is not a calorie-laden repast; no actual food will be served. Rather, “Bach’s Lunch” is a series of recitals of music that might have been found in the musical lunch pail of the great master.
David Horne, minister of music at First Presbyterian, will be performing Advent and Christmas chorale preludes for organ from the late 17th and early 18th centuries by composers whose lives intersected with Bach in important ways. Featured on the recital are pieces by Dietrich Buxtehude, Johann Gottlieb Walther, Friedrich Wilhelm Zachau, and of course by J. S. Bach himself.
The public is invited to attend the 45-minute concert free of charge. Future recitals in the series will be announced.
