The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy has awarded academy recruit Sam D. Robinson IV with the Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship worth $1,000. He is attending the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy at Jamestown Community College. He is from Jamestown, graduated from Jamestown Community College, and serves in the United States Army Reserve. He is currently the assistant coach of the Jayhawk’s men’s basketball team at Jamestown Community College. He was accepted into the Sheriff’s Academy in August, 2021.

The Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship was created by Verna Feather, the widow of Dan Feather, an 18-year veteran of the Jamestown Police Department. The recipient must be a Chautauqua County resident who is attending the Sheriff’s Academy and possesses qualities which reflect the professionalism and character that Dan Feather demonstrated during his service as a police officer. The scholarship to Sam is the 24th that has been awarded.

It is the hope of Mrs. Feather that this scholarship can be a lasting memorial to Dan Feather and also help those who are just starting out in the pursuit of a career in police work. The scholarship is administered through the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.
