Southwestern Independent Living Center Finds Unique Way To Assist People

The Southwestern Independent Living Center, 843 N Main St., Jamestown, has found a unique way to assist the people of Chautauqua County by starting Big Red Tent Day.

Those who see the big red tent in the SILC yard will know that Judy Wroda of SILC is available to help complete SNAP/HEAP applications, find available service programs, low-income apartments and completing those applications, and giving information about other services in the county that may be beneficial.

Wroda works with a unique group of individuals who have individual programs they administer, such as Robin Knepshield, who assists with Medicaid for the elderly and disabled, and Dave Marg, who works with the nursing home transition waiver that helps move people who are more independent back into their own home in the community.

Wroda has been assisting persons in the county for almost three years. For more information, call SILC at 661-3010 or reach Wroda directly at 450-3960. Wroda is able to assist all persons in the county, regardless of age, income or if they are/are not living with a disability.
