Sundquist Joins Rotary Club

Cheri Krull, Rotary Club of Jamestown president, welcomes new member, Mayor Eddie Sundquist.

The Rotary Club of Jamestown introduced a new member at a recent meeting.

Proposed by Steve Sandberg, Mayor Eddie Sundquist was welcomed into the Club. Cheri Krull, Rotary Club of Jamestown president, and Randy Sweeney, co-chair of the club’s membership committee, officially welcomed Sundquist.

Vince Horrigan, retired Chautauqua County Executive, spoke about Sundquist, who grew up in Jamestown. Horrigan applauded his public service commitment, stepping down from his legal career to take on the mantle of mayor.

Sundquist pursued a political science degree at St. John Fisher College. He also attended University of Pennsylvania where he earned his masters of science degree in education. He was recognized as Educator of the Year where he taught in 2011.

He attended the University at Buffalo School of Law. While there, he was an advocate for children and families, working with the Buffalo community to develop alternatives to school suspension and discipline programs. He received his juris doctorate in 2015 and returned to Jamestown to practice law with Lewis & Lewis P.C. before launching his run for Mayor in 2019.

Rotary is a service organization whose purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world. The noon Rotary meets at noon Mondays at the Doubletree Hotel on Fourth Street. Visitors are welcomed.
