MHA Starts #MeToo Support Group
“#MeToo” is a movement against sexual harassment and sexual assault.
Its purpose is to empower women through empathy and strength in numbers, especially young and vulnerable women, by demonstrating how many women have survived sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace. Monday, February 24, at 5:30 p.m. will be the first weekly meeting of the #MeToo Support Group at the Jamestown location of the Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County.
Mental Health Association staff members Jenny Rowe, Tasha McFaul and Allison Murphy, all of whom are part of #MeToo, are the group leaders.
There is no charge for participating in the #MeToo Support Group. Anyone who could benefit is welcome at Door 14 in the rear of the Gateway Center, 31 Water St., Jamestown.
With locations in both Jamestown and Dunkirk, the Mental Health Association is a peer recovery center offering support groups and individual coaching for people looking to improve their lives, deepen wellness, thrive in recovery, or support those on a recovery path.
For answers to questions or services for oneself or a family member, call 661-9044 or stop in.
The Jamestown facility opens at 9 a.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Closing time on Mondays is 7 p.m., Thursdays is 8 p.m., Saturdays is 2 p.m., and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays is 4 p.m.
