RTPI Set To Host Book Series

The Roger Tory Peterson Institute has been selected to host a series of Humanities N.Y. Reading and Discussion programs.

Participants will read a selection of books that are connected by the theme “Illuminating the Dark Side of Nature.” Each title explores some of the strange and mysterious corners of the natural world — places that many are reluctant to probe.

During each of these sessions, participants will gather at RTPI with others from the community to discuss what they’ve read in an informal conversation facilitated by RTPI staff. Books for the following month’s session will be distributed at the end of each discussion.

The first Humanities New York Reading and Discussion session will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at which time “Entering the Stone: On Caves and Feeling Through the Dark” by Barbara Hurd will be discussed.

This program is free open to the public, and a limited number of loaner books are now available to sign out at RTPI.

Subsequent sessions will be held throughout the spring to explore additional titles. The complete program schedule and book synopses are available on RTPI’s website at rtpi.org/rtpi-to-host-illuminating-the-dark-side-of-nature-book-club/.

The offering was sponsored by a Humanities New York Vision/Action Grant. Contact msmith@rtpi.org or 665-2473 ext 221 for more information.
