Pianists Perform At Mozart Club
The Mozart club met Jan. 15 at the Marvin House to hear pianists “Music By Two” from Houghton College. Dr. Sharon Johnson and Dr. Nancy Davis performed the “St. Matthew Passion: Suite for Two.” As “Music By Two” pianists, Davis and Johnson were named finalists in the 2016 Professional Chamber ensemble division of the American Prize Competition. They have been heard in a variety of venues averaging 50 concerts a year. “Music By Two” will release their first CD “American Landscapes” soon, which includes world premieres of works by Eric Ewazen and Lowell Lieberman. The next program of the Mozart Club will be Gilbert and Sullivan, Pirates of Penzance, Wednesday, March 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Marvin House. This work, first performed December 1879, continues the Mozart Club’s celebration commemorating 140 years as a music club.
