Gowanda Beats Sheffield In High School Bowl

Gowanda Central School defeated Sheffield Area High School 54-36 in a recent Media One High School Bowl match at Jamestown Community College.

In another match, Warren Area High School defeated Southwestern High School 107-31.

Logan Forthman and Will Sylvia of Gowanda and Gareth Smith of Warren earned Player of the Match honors.

Gowanda team members included Tatum Stitzel and Wade Wampler. Nik Hoffman, Sam Lauffenburger, Lily Lauffenburger, Marissa Grubs, Allison Schmader, and Kyra Wotorson competed for Sheffield.

The Warren team was composed of Hailey Jenkins, Katie Moore, Storm Sivak, and Scott Stewart. Competing for Southwestern were Braley Lachner, Ethan Livingston, Will Dorman, Philipp Meyer, Jonas Gesing, and Korbin Sinischo.

High School Bowl, now in its 59th year, is produced by Media One Group in cooperation with JCC. Sponsors include the JCC Alumni Association, SKF Aeroengine-North America, Chautauqua County Humane Society, Honest John’s Pizza and Wings, Pepsi, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Marsh Appliance and Carports, Weinberg Financial Group, and Delta Kappa Gamma, the International Honor Society of Women Educators.

High School Bowl airs at 12:10 p.m. on Saturdays on radio station WJTN and at 7 a.m. on Sundays on radio station WWSE. Matches can also be heard online at radiojamestown.com/podcasts.
