ACNC To Hold First Friday

This picture of a river otter with a fish in its mouth was taken by Jeff Tome, Audubon Community Nature Center senior nature educator. At Friday's First Friday Lunch Bunch, Tome will share unexpected sights captured across all the seasons on Audubon's nearly 600 acres.

Jeff Tome has taken thousands of pictures in the more than 20 years that he has been a nature educator at Audubon Community Nature Center.

At Audubon’s First Friday Lunch Bunch on Friday, Tome will take those attending on a photographic adventure through “An Audubon Year” to see sights that few visitors have seen, from river otter families and blue frogs to purple orchids and eagle nests.

With camera in hand, Tome has prowled the trails, looking at all the plants, animals, and other things that dwell there. The now senior nature educator will demonstrate that Audubon’s 570 acres contain far more than most people suspect.

Those attending can bring a brown bag lunch to share afterward.

Tome’s program was originally scheduled for January’s First Friday. A scheduling conflict moved the Audubon Year program to December, and the originally scheduled Hellbender program is moved to January.

The fee for attending First Friday is $8 or $6 for Nature Center members.

Walk-ins are welcome. Registrations are accepted through Thursday by calling 569-2345 during business hours or going online to AudubonCNC.org/Programs and clicking “Current Schedule.”
