Rotary Seeks Greeting Cards For Vets Project

The Rotary Club of Westfield-Mayville is collecting new, unsigned Christmas greeting cards with their envelopes for use with its service project of helping to brighten the day of veterans who are in area Veterans Administration facilities by providing them with holiday greeting cards and warm wishes.

The cards should be unsigned, since Westfield-Mayville Rotarians and interested volunteers will sign the hundreds of cards.

Two collections sites have been set up to aid the public in offering holiday card donations for this project. Cards may be dropped off in the cards collection bins during regular business hours at the Patterson Library, 40 S. Portage St. in Westfield, and at the Ahira Hall Memorial Library, 37 W. Main St. in Brocton.

New, unsigned holiday greeting cards with their envelopes will be accepted until Nov. 23.

Westfield-Mayville Rotarians and some volunteers will hold two card signing sessions. The first one will be on Nov. 25 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Patterson Library in Westfield. The second session will be on Dec. 2 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Ahira Hall Memorial Library in Brocton.

All of the signed holiday greeting cards will be distributed to veterans who are long term patients in the Veterans Administration Medical Centers of Buffalo, Batavia and Erie, and possibly to others. For more information, contact Westfield-Mayville Rotarian Sheila Chapman, project chair, at 224-3280.
