Johnson To Run For School Board Seat

Erik Johnson, a longtime Mina resident, is running for the Clymer Central School Board of Education seat left open due to a resignation.

Johsnon worked for 27 years as a quality control engineer at GE. He is a life member of the Findley Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He traveled to Alabama and Mississippi on five different occasions as a hurricane relief volunteer, as well as being an active volunteer for Community Connections at Findley Lake. He has served on the Mina Planning Board, the Mina Assessment Review Board and the Clymer Central School school board.

Johnson said he believes in best practices; reviewing procedures to ensure movement toward the desired goals.

“I feel the school board must be mindful of what the community will support,” Johnson said. “Given this, the board needs to look at what is required to run the school, along with balancing optimal student opportunities with fiscal responsibility. Looking for ways to cut expenditures without cutting programming will be paramount to success. We must work together to create a clear vision for the district.”

Voting will take place on Monday from noon to 8 p.m. in the Clymer Central School Student Performance Center.
