Thule Lodge Will Host Harvest Dinner

FALCONER — The Thule Lodge will host its harvest dinner at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer.

The Thule Lodge is the Swedish organization in the Jamestown area. The lodge was formed 112 ago to help the Swedish immigrants settle in the United States with housing, employment and schooling. The lodge now serves as a social club and welcomes new members. At the recent lodge meeting held at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer, lodge chairman Tom Eckberg welcomed all and led those in a business meeting.

One of the main topics was to plan a harvest dinner, which will be catered by 3 Cs Catering. Reservations are required. Bernice Veights, lodge membership chairwoman, said cards are being mailed to members with all of the details. Members with longevity memberships will be recognized during the event. Veights said a new member is given a membership number, and over the last century, there have been 4,200 members to the lodge.

During the meeting, chaplain Diane K. Shaw gave the opening and closing invocations.

Susan W. Sipos, vice chairman, reported on the officers at their stations and distributed the regalia which officers wear during meetings.

John Sipos, lodge historian, read the roll call of officers, the minutes of the previous meeting and also presented the financial report for the treasurer.

Sipos led all those in attendance with the pledge to the flag. Donna Johnson who has worked with the dance team for many years, reported that the Children’s Dance team will be holding its annual Swedish St. Lucia festival in December.

The monthly meeting award was presented to member Stephanie Buccola. Following the meeting, sandwiches were provided by Veights and cookies and coffee by 3 Cs Catering.
