Sinclairville To Hold History Fair Saturday

SINCLAIRVILLE — Every September for the past 20 years, the village of Sinclairville and the Valley Historical Society have sponsored an event on the second Saturday known as the Sinclairville History Fair.

This year is no different. On Saturday, the village will come alive once again with the 21st History Fair. There is plenty of food to eat with all three meals served at the Sinclairville Fire Hall. The Sinclairville 76ers Meals on Wheels program sponsors a pancake breakfast with eggs and sausage from 7 to 9:30 a.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 under 12. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased from any 76ers member for $6. At 11:30 a.m., the fire department and Sinclairville Free Library co-sponsor a chicken barbecue that continues until it is sold out. The price is $10. The Historical Society will sponsor a beef on weck dinner from 5 p.m. until sold out. The meal includes macaroni salad, pickle, desert and drink for $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. There will also be food vendors in the village’s commons.

At 9:30 a.m. there will be a memorial service at the museum with local pastors.

The day will officially kick off at 10 a.m. with a parade down Main Street. At 11 a.m., Grandma’s Fruit Pie Contest and the Beautiful Baby contest for babies under 2 years will be held at the Sinclairville Fire Hall. There is no entry fee for either contest. Also there will be a cruise-in at the village hall for cars, trucks, motorcycles and antique tractors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are trophies for the winners and door prizes.

Also from 11 a.m. until dusk there will be an inflatable bounce house, slide and games for children at no charge. The common will be filled with music throughout the day starting at 11 a.m. with the band Wanderlust performing in the gazebo. The Jamestown Harmony Express chorus will be in the gazebo at 1 p.m. performing barbershop style. The Rustic Ramblers band will be playing country music under the tent from noon to 3 p.m. At 1:30 p.m., Denise Reichard will perform at the library as Dolly Madison. Beginning at 11 a.m. Crackerjack Farms will be giving free rides in a horse-drawn limousine. There will be a bake sale in the museum and after lunch the historical society members will sponsor a historical scavenger hunt for all ages. At 2 p.m. there will be a historic tour of the Evergreen Cemetery with Betty Jean Ridout, cemetery association officer. Participants should meet at the cemetery entrance.

At 3 p.m. there will be an All Breeds Dog Show at the fire hall with prizes being donated by Purina of Dunkirk.
