Falconer Central Schools Will Open For A Full Day Of School Sept. 5

FALCONER — Falconer Central Schools will open for students on Thursday, Sept. 5, with a full day of school for students in third through 12th grades.

Students in kindergarten through second grades will have half-days on Thursday, Sept. 5, and Friday, Sept. 6, with a noon dismissal time. Teachers and teaching assistants will report Tuesday, Sept. 3, and all staff will report on Wednesday, Sept. 4, for a day of orientation and preparation.

All students in universal pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first and second grades will attend Temple Elementary School. Temple’s student hours are from 8:35 a.m. until 3:20 p.m., with a breakfast program provided. Third, fourth and fifth grades will attend Fenner Elementary School. Fenner’s student hours are 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a breakfast program provided. Fenner’s main school door will open at 7:30 a.m.

Universal pre-kindergarten students will not be starting on Sept. 5. Orientation for universal pre-kindergarten students will be on Monday, Sept. 9, and the first regular day of UPK will be Tuesday, Sept. 10.

MORNING UPK STUDENTS

Students and parents will ride in on the regular morning bus run Sept. 9. Orientation will be from 8:35 to 9:35 a.m. Parents and students should report to the library upon arrival. After orientation, universal pre-kindergarten students and their parents and guardians will ride the bus back home. UPK students who are not eligible to ride the school bus must be transported by a parent/guardian.

AFTERNOON UPK STUDENTS

Students and parents will ride in on the afternoon UPK bus run Sept. 9. Orientation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Report to the library upon arrival. After orientation, UPK students and parent(s)/guardian will ride the bus back home. UPK students who are not eligible to ride the school bus must be transported by a parent/guardian.

MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL HOURS

School hours for middle/high school students will be 7:43 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. The main school doors will be open at 7:10 a.m. Other school doors will remain locked until 7:25 a.m.

The afternoon bus run for middle/high school students for 2019-20 will be as follows:

¯ regular take-home bus run will leave at 2:35 p.m.

¯ a second bus will be available for middle/high school students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 3:10 p.m.

¯ there will be a detention bus departing at 4:15 p.m. from the middle/high school on Tuesday and Thursday only. The late and detention buses will drop students off at the Kennedy Library and the Ellington Library. Parents should pick up their students at those drop-off locations. Parents may pick up, at the middle/high school, any other students staying late who are not on these two scheduled bus runs. The parent pick-up area is located in the parking lot by the Middle School doors.

Parents of students in universal pre-kindergarten, third and sixth grades will receive information regarding bus routes and time schedules in the mail. Any parent who has a question regarding bus runs should call Mr. Peterson at 665-5290 or 665-6624 — press (8) then (2). Class schedules for students in sixth through 12th grades will be handed out at the open house on Sept. 4 at the middle/high school.

OPEN HOUSE HOURS/REGISTRATION

Open house hours for the middle-high school are 6 to 7:30 p.m. while Fenner Elementary School open house hours are 5 to 5:30 for third-grade students and parents and 5:30 to 6:30 for third through fifth grade children. Open House for Temple Elementary School will be on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 6 p.m.

New residents should call their respective building to make an appointment to register their children.

CAFETERIAS

Cafeterias will be open the first day of school with prices as follows:

Class A Lunch, kindergarten through fifth grades — $1.40;

Class A Lunch, sixth through 12th grades — $1.45

Breakfast — $1.30
