Quaker Beach To Host Fourth Of July Barbecue

Allegany State Park’s Quaker Beach area will celebrate Independence Day on Wednesday starting at noon with a chicken barbecue by the Coldspring Volunteer Fire Department.

At 6 p.m., Allegany’s artist-in-residence Keith James will perform. James is a pop singer/songwriter from Buffalo who appeared on season 6 of NBC’s “The Voice.” Since then he’s gone on to do special events for the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bills and other local and regional venues.

The headline performer is Jillian Eliza starting at 7:30 p.m. Eliza, raised in the south towns of Buffalo, started singing at a young age and began writing songs at 10 years old. She has been performing all over Western New York since she turned 18, performing with numerous bands, playing at bars and venues, as well as partnering up with WYRK to share the stage with national artists such as Josh Turner, Wynonna Judd, Granger Smith, Jarrod Niemann, Drake White, Thompson Square, Joe Nichols, Eric Paslay, Morgan Wallah and Dylan Scott.

The park will also have the Ask the Naturalist table open from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Quaker Bathhouse. Capping off the evening will be a fireworks display over the waters of Quaker Lake. As of 2017, the launch site is located at the midpoint of the lake. Patrons should plan on adjusting their location to get the best view. Patrons planning to view the fireworks at the beach should plan to arrive early as the parking lot has limited capacity and will be closed once it is full. Attendees are also asked to obey all designated “No Parking” zones.
