John I. LaMancuso has been named the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County’s 2019 Campaign chairman.

The theme for this year’s campaign is “Change Doesn’t Happen Alone.”

“John is an emerging and passionate leader in our community and he’s already spearheaded some fresh ideas for this year.” said Amy Rohler, United Way executive director. “We’re excited to get to work.”

LaMancuso was born and raised in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School. His family has lived in Jamestown for five generations, since his great-grandparents immigrated to the United States and settled in the city. LaMancuso and his wife, Gillian, live in Jamestown with their two young children.

“When I learned more about our local United Way several years ago, I was astounded by the number of ways the United Way makes a positive impact in our community,” LaMancuso said. “Growing up in Jamestown, I saw first-hand how important programs at the Boys & Girls Club, Chautauqua Striders, and the YMCA — to name just a few — were for the children and families they supported. I later learned that these are just a few of the numerous local programs the United Way helps to fund. I am honored that the United Way asked me to help this year, and I look forward to another successful campaign.”

LaMancuso is a partner in the law firm of Lewis & Lewis P.C., where he handles litigation and transactional matters on behalf of individuals, businesses, non-profits, and government. In addition to the United Way, he is active in the Jamestown Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

The United Way of Southern Chautauqua County officially kicks off the 2019 Campaign later this fall. The effort will seek to raise more than $1.3 million to invest in 39 programs that align with four priorities: ensuring that families are self-sufficient, everyone is ready to work, young people succeed in school, and those in need can find help. One hundred percent of all donations remain in Chautauqua County.
